Lizard Island Resort is a luxury retreat located 240 km north of Cairns on the northern Great Barrier Reef, accessible by sea and air, with direct access to the reef itself. Set within a national park and surrounded by 24 secluded beaches, the resort comprises 40 luxury rooms, suites and villas — many with private beaches — all offering serenity, seclusion and breathtaking views. It is the only resort in Australia to hold the prestigious Three Michelin Key distinction.
JCY was engaged by island management to assess the current offering and develop options for an expanded guest experience. The resort comprises four villa typologies and three standalone private residences.
The communal and accommodation elements of the resort were each assessed and scope-of-work recommendations prepared, identifying a suite of staged projects that can be developed, costed and delivered during the annual resort shutdown or as island operations allow. Scoped projects include extending north-facing villa decks, incorporating chilled plunge pools, and combining adjoining villas to create larger accommodation offerings for families.
The intent of these improvements is to build on the current offering — broadening and enriching an already highly acclaimed island guest experience
