Northcross Street, Takapuna

JCY has worked with Platform Consulting Group to redevelop this prominent building on a corner site.   The existing beige 1980’s building that was compartmentalised as small office and retail spaces has been redeveloped to deliver a leading workplace design for a single tenant.   Platform Consulting Group undertook Project Management and Interior Design roles; JCY concentrated on the exterior upgrade and base build interior elements.

Bayleys Realty Group purchased the building in 2025 with the intent on bringing their team together in one purposeful space in this prominent Takapuna intersection.

The main change to the building has been enclosing the external atrium that was open to Northcroft Street, increasing the net area of the building without increasing the overall footprint.

Entry from Lake Road or Northcroft St to Bayley’s North Shore’s new premises leads into the main reception area with comfortable seating and meeting facilities, and with the boardroom nearby. This lobby area can also be used as a small auction space.

The new café is accessed from Northcroft St. Next to it is a large, community-facing auction room that can double as a community space or a training room. In the centre of the ground floor is a wide stairway leading to the first floor.

The upgraded building envelope is transparent and light.  The building is open to the street and invites community connection.  A new café on the ground floor, complete with contemporary fireplace, provides additional active edge activation.

A contemporary colour change to the façade and existing glass canopy structure has transformed the building. Vertical aluminium battens have been surface mounted to the first floor, giving screening to the north facing office spaces to Lake Road and a modern, contrasting colour to the body of the building.
