Tahuna Pod Backpackers Queenstown

This project involved the conversion of a mid 80s office building into a 'pod' backpackers. 

The backpacker spans over all three levels of the building with reception on ground floor, communal kitchen and living spaces on the mid floor and the conversion of two apartments on the top floor to backpacker rooms.

The beds were devised as individual queen sized bunk 'pods' giving the patrons some privacy within their bunk pod.  The material palette of the fitout is neutral with the bunks fabricated from pine ply and individually illuminated with concealed LED strip lighting in a recess above the head of each bed.
